One of the great things about America is the generosity of its people.
In fact, the World Giving Index tells us that the United States is one of the top three most generous countries in the world! That kind of compassion is something that should be commended. According to an article by CNBC, Americans gave about $390-billion in 2016, which is incredible!
"Americans remained generous in 2016, despite it being a year punctuated by economic and political uncertainty," said Aggie Sweeney, the chair of Giving USA Foundation, in the CNBC piece. "We saw growth in every major sector, indicating the resilience of philanthropy and diverse motivations of donors."
These charitable contributions just go to show that no matter how small an act of kindness may feel, when combined with other acts of kindness, it can have a huge impact.
Whether it’s donating to a charity or simply volunteering for a cause you believe in, you can make a difference in the lives of the people around you, and maybe even in ways you would never expect!
Some ways you can make an impact could be to volunteer your time at an animal shelter or donate canned goods to your local food drive. There are many ways to help the community, but no matter what you choose, donating your time, money, or goods is a rewarding experience that not only benefits the people you are helping, but yourself as well. As a community bank, we want to make sure the people around us succeed to the best of their ability and we strive to help those people reach their full potential. #LetsBuildEquity
