WICHITA, Kan., (Aug. 17, 2026)—Equity Bank is expanding its investment into Wichita’s NoMar district with the announcement of a full-service location. Equity bought property at 701 W. 21st St. in August, two years after opening a loan production office in the area.
This 21st and Arkansas location, which will staff at least five people, marks the first time Equity has built a new location in Wichita in about eight years.
Hutton will handle construction on the project, which will take about a year. Hutton has helped Equity on several projects, including recent regional hubs in Kirksville, Missouri, and Great Build, Kansas, as well as Equity’s new build in Liberal, Kansas.
Equity Bancshares, Inc. Chairman & CEO Brad Elliott told the Wichita Business Journal the location will be “small-business oriented, with a focus on targeting business customers with about $2 million or less in lending needs.”
“It’s a market that is underserved, and we’ve got the ability and capabilities to service that market, I think, differently than other community banks in the marketplace,” Elliott told the WBJ. “We’ve got two gentlemen [Arturo Dominguez and Omar Guzman] working over there making sales calls and meeting with the different community folks to see what [the] needs are in that community and how we can fill them.”
Equity has made a push into markets with Spanish-speaking populations, offering customer service and video tellers in both English and Spanish languages.
“Putting ourselves square in the middle of that community gives easy access for them to make deposits, [to] come in and talk to loan officers, and be serviced in that community where they live and work,” Elliott told the WBJ. “It’s such a vibrant community for the city of Wichita, so bringing the needs [for] banking services to them is a natural fit for us.”
