Equity Bank Adds to Human Resources, Training, Credit Administration Leadership
WICHITA, Kansas (September 8, 2017) – Equity Bank announced the hires of three additions to the bank’s human resources, training, and credit administration teams, all based in Equity Bank’s corporate offices at 7701 East Kellogg in Wichita.
Mark Taylor, SPHR, VP - Human Resources
Mark Taylor joined Equity Bank in July as Vice President and Human Resources Manager, and will oversee daily operations of the human resources team, including recruitment, benefits, and other functions as Equity Bank continues its growth. Taylor also will contribute to strategic planning and human resource management during the merger planning and completion process for Equity Bank and its holding company, Equity Bancshares, Inc.
Taylor has worked in human resources previously for RCB Bank in Winfield, Kansas, as VP and Benefits Manager, and prior to CornerBank’s acquisition by RCB Bank, served as VP of Human Resources and Marketing for the Company. He also has worked as a manager and a director of business operations in the healthcare and hospital industries.
Taylor earned his B.S. from Southwestern College in Winfield, and has been involved with the Society for Human Resources Management, Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and Winfield Rotary, as well as Cowley County’s Economic Development Partnership, Cowley First.
Matt Brewer, VP - Training Director
Matt Brewer joined Equity Bank on August 14 as the bank’s first Vice President and Training Manager, specializing in communication, leadership, and employee development throughout the bank’s 37 bank offices in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Brewer will oversee all aspects of training for the company, including employee recruitment, retention, training and ongoing development, including sales training and leadership development.
Brewer joins Equity Bank after 10 years as Headmaster and Principal of Trinity Academy in Wichita, Kansas, where he led all aspects of the academy, including personnel, administration, academics, and interaction with the Board of Trustees, students, parents, faculty, staff, and regulatory bodies. He and wife taught in an international school in Manila, Philippines from 2005-2007, and prior to that Brewer also served as principal for Kansas City Christian School in Prairie Village, Kansas. Brewer also has worked in sales and business management in the Kansas City area.
Brewer is an accredited educator by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) with lifetime certifications as Superintendent and Secondary Teacher for Math. He earned his B.S. from Calvary University in Kansas City, Mo. and an M.S. from Clarks Summit University in Clarks Summit, Pa.
Tim Kerr, VP - Special Assets
Tim Kerr joined Equity Bank as Vice President of Special Assets on August 14. Kerr will oversee management of the bank’s special assets portfolio and work with customers throughout the Bank’s three-state footprint.
Kerr has more than 13 years experience in the banking and lending industries, most recently serving in lending roles for American Federal Bank in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and commercial real estate broker and division manager for Property Resources Group. Kerr also has been a division manager for a real estate brokerage firm, and owned his own business - NAI North Central - for seven years. Kerr earned his B.A. in finance and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.
