Five Things All Entrepreneurs Should Do During The Summer

When you’re an entrepreneur, it’s easy to get stuck in a routine. Summer is the perfect excuse (and time) to change things up. Here are five things every entrepreneur should do during the summer.

Clean

It’s an obvious task, however cleaning is usually low on everyone’s priority list. Whether your business space is an office, shop or factory, having a clean space is essential. Cleaning your office space can provide a boost in productivity. Summer is also a good time to reorganize and determine if you need new or different equipment.

Take a Vacation

An article published in The Atlantic states that just as small breaks improve concentration, vacations boost long term job performance. Francine Lederer, a clinical psychologist in Los Angeles told ABC News, “Most people have better life perspective and are more motivated to achieve their goals after a vacation, even if it is a 24-hour time-out.” If you have a hard time leaving work behind, a company retreat can help you and your employees unwind as well as get to know each other better.

Hire an Intern

Summer internship programs can have a variety of benefits. They can help a business with small projects like developing a social media strategy and researching an emerging market or new technologies. Businesses often develop interns for full-time positions after or upon graduation. Internship programs also allow businesses to train students for specific functions within the business. Most students are typically looking for full time internships during the summer.

Reevaluate Your Marketing Strategy

Entrepreneurs should always be evaluating their marketing strategy. Even for companies that evaluate their marketing strategies consistently, it’s rare for companies to really do a deep-dive into what’s working and what isn’t working. Summer is a good time to look at the return on investment of your marketing activities. If you’re happy with your current strategy, research new trends in your industry.

Survey Your Employees

Entrepreneurs should always be looking for ways to improve their business. Take the time to ask your employees if they have any concerns or ideas. Who better to take advice from than the people that help grow your company. Have an idea of what you want to gain from talking to your employees and remember to be open to suggestions and listen to all the feedback.
