New Waterfront branch in Wichita planned for 2014

WICHITA, Kansas (June 21, 2013) – Equity Bank will open a new full-service branch location at the Waterfront on 13th and Webb Road in 2014.

On June 19, Equity Bank CEO and President Brad Elliott signed the Wichita-based bank's agreement to build a free-standing bank branch on a 1-plus acre lot at the Waterfront. Equity Bank at Waterfront will tentatively open in August 2014.

"East Wichita is thriving, diverse and a great place to serve our retail customers. It's also been important to our bank since we began years ago in Andover," said Elliott. "We couldn't be more excited to serve our customers with convenience, energy, and spirit – close and convenient to shopping, homes, and businesses. Our newest Equity Bank location will help us do just that."

Equity Bank's Waterfront branch will be just off N. Webb Road, a free-standing building within the Waterfront spanning approximately 8,000 square feet with 4,000 for the bank office. Elliott expects construction of the building to begin in late 2013. The bank will include office space for retail customer service staff, including tellers, representatives, mortgage and consumer lenders, and commercial loan officers. The bank will also include drive-through lanes and drive-up ATM.

Equity Bank was originally the National Bank of Andover, and changed its name in 2002. The bank acquired its current headquarters, 7700 E Kellogg, and its West Wichita location at 10222 W. Central in 2005 from Hillcrest Bank. Equity Bank plans to break ground on its new location later this year.

"Wichita is our home, and our community," said Elliott. "We couldn't be happier to offer a facility that serves customers with the convenience, community and excellent service to which they're accustomed."

Located at 13th Street and Webb Road, the Waterfront is a unique, 175-acre, mixed-use development that already includes some of Wichita's most recognized businesses. A popular destination for working, shopping and dining, the Waterfront expects additional office space, luxury apartments, and a retail expansion anchored by Whole Foods Market coming in 2014.
