Equity Bank Names Jason Pickerell President of its Topeka Market

TOPEKA, Kansas (May 22, 2013) – Equity Bank is pleased to announce Jason Pickerell as President of its Topeka market. Pickerell will lead all of Equity Bank's business development and commercial lending activities in the Topeka area. His main office is at Equity Bank's downtown location at 701 South Kansas. He began as President of Equity Bank on Monday, May 20.

A native of Valley Falls and Topeka, Pickerell arrives at Equity Bank after serving as senior commercial lender and VP for Denison State Bank in Meriden and Topeka, Kansas. He has more than 25 years in the financial industry in the greater Topeka area, including business development in Shawnee and Jefferson counties.


During his career, Pickerell has served numerous roles ranging from branch manager to senior commercial loan officer, VP, and now president. In addition, Pickerell will blend seamlessly with several Equity Bank customer service leaders in Topeka. Pickerell worked for then-Columbian Bank in Topeka from 1998 2000 as commercial loan officer and branch manager. Columbian Bank was assumed by Citizens Bank & Trust in 2008, and Equity Bank acquired four branch locations of Citizens Bank & Trust in 2011.


An alumnus of Washburn University, Pickerell also is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colo. and the Commercial Lending School in Norman, Okla. He has been active as a volunteer in Shawnee and Jefferson counties throughout his career, currently serving as treasurer for the Meriden/Ozawkie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Pickerell also is a member of the Shawnee County Chamber of Commerce. A past Rotary and Lions Club member, Pickerell currently assists as coach for elementary baseball and basketball in Valley Falls. He resides in Valley Falls with wife Paula, and sons, ages 15, 11 and 5.
